Capacity, and why it fails on the biggest day
A gutter that handles ordinary rain can be overwhelmed in a downpour, and owners interpret the overflow as a clog when it is sometimes a capacity limit.
Three factors set capacity: trough size, downspout size, and how many downspouts serve a length of gutter. A long run with a single downspout at one end is asking one outlet to move everything, and it will spill at the far corner during heavy rain.
